While the Western industrial countries take the supply of water for granted, there is a lack of drinking water in the developing nations and in areas of disaster (for example after natural catastrophes).
The goal of the project was the development of a water purification device that uses the most simple and cheapest techniques to disinfect polluted water in a reliable way - without
electricity or chemistry.
It is meant to be carried out by relief organizations in isolated villages in Africa which are not yet connected to a safe water-supply.
